Article 1 is a web app that makes it easy to run Mock Congress, Model UN, and other role play simulations with students. Mock Congress is a fun and rigorous way to teach about the legislative process, and Article 1 is intended for grades 5-12 and undergraduate studies. In Article 1, students take on the role of a member of Congress, write legislation, and navigate their bills through the legislative process. Article 1 is social and gets students excited about learning about civics–students work in committees and parties to try to get their legislation passed.

Article 1 was founded in 2023 by civics teacher Matt Tyler. After teaching history and civics for 8 years in North Carolina and New York City public schools, Matt designed Article 1 based on his own experience teaching Mock Congress.
